We all need a place to keep our precious things.  Imagine having a special place you have made yourself, just yours and beautiful. In this class we will be making small objects such as bowls, lidded boxes , cups or even small planters.

The wonderful thing about handbuilding is that all that is needed to make beautiful objects are clay, your hands, and perhaps a few simple tools. Although even these are not essential. In this workshop you will learn these ancient techniques, still relevant today, and come away with skills to make all kinds of beautiful things

Over 2 1/2 hours Lea will take through the process of crafting your very own small lidded box or cup/ vessel from a choice of two clays.

You will learn how to make your box using the beautiful Kirinuki carving technique as well as coil and pinching techniques to make a beautiful and individual piece. Lea will also teach you how to make a knob or button opening and how to make a lid that fits and stays on. You will also be shown how to decorate your piece with carving and colour, using a few different techniques.

Your piece will be glazed, in the glaze of your choice, fired and returned to you, ready for your treasures

Suitable for total beginners and those wanting to try new things. Classes are limited to 6 people with lots of attention for everyone.
