Handmade stoneware ceramic cup without handle

Made with an earthy clay and fired in a reduction kiln to provide the distinctive speckle. Glazed in a matte grey/brown with a feature of exposed clay and lines at the base. This colour is inspired by the granite stone of the Monaro.

A reduction firing is where the chemistry of the clay and glaze is manipulated during firing by starving kiln atmosphere of oxygen. This process draws the iron out of the body of the earthy clay I use and creates the much loved speckle. 

For lovers gennerous cups of tea and coffee with approximately 300 ml capacity.  This cup is lovely for cold drinks too. Perhaps even a botanical G&T or wine.  

Dimensions are approximately 8cm high and 8cm diameter.
